Asthehometownofthegreatmanofthegeneration,nowShaoshanisoneoftheimportanttouristzonesinHunanprovince.ThemajortouristsitesincludingtheFormerresidenceofChairmanMao,MemorialHallofMaoZedong,Water-drippingCaveandStelesForestofMao‘sPoems，andsoon.
TheformerresidenceofChairmanMaoisthemostinterestingsite.Enteredthroughacourtyard,thehouseisofasunnyyellow,mudbrickwalls,withanicelythatchedroof,andisfoundonawoodedhillside,abovesomelushpaddyfields.Thereare一三andonehalfroomsintheFormerresidence,whichincludeoneandhalfcentralroom,akitchen,adiningroom,threefamilybedroomsandaguestroom.WithintheroomsarevariouspersonaleffectsofMaoandhisparents,aswellasphotosfromMao‘slife.
Thisisthecentralroom,usedbytwofamilies:Mao‘sfamilyandtheirneighbor.SowesaidthatthereisonlyonehalfofthecentralroombelongstoMao‘sfamily.Andthisistherekitchen,whereChairmanMaooftenhelpedhismotherdoingsomehouseworkinhischildhood.GothroughthekitchenwasChairmanMao‘sparent‘sbedroom,therearetwophotosofChairmanMao‘sparentsontheinnerwall,anditwasinthisroomwhereChairmanMaowasborn.
TheDrippingWaterCave,about三kmnorthwestofthevillage,isaverypopulardestination,possiblybecauseofthefactthatMaoallegedlyspent一一dayshereintheearlydaysoftheCulturalRevolutionYears(一九六六-七六),contemplatingtheunknown.
